Our Pastor
The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in McAllen, Texas is proud to have a pastor we believe is uniquely qualified to lead our church. The Rev. Max Grubb came to the ministry later in life, having had successful careers in business, financial management, marketing and as a chamber of commerce executive in three different locations. Even though his ministry began later in life, he displays greater energy and enthusiasm than most minister's many years younger.
His prior work experiences provide an excellent blend with his personal experiences.
Max is no stranger to "life on life's terms." He does not have to read a book, or take a class to know about the difficulties people can experience in dysfunctional family life, coping with divorce, death of children and other loved ones, and alcoholism in the family. Those experiences have enabled him to become a pastor in the true sense. One in which people can confide and know that they are being treated with compassion.
Max's sermons are filled with meaningful stories, and are always well received by those in attendance.
His emphasis in sermons seems to be to treat the messages in a way in which most people have not thought about them, in order to keep the gospel new and fresh, as well as meaningful.
